Steve Waters Report at left.

We're getting
great feedback on the Round Up announcement. One fellow asked if we knew of someone who might want to split the Entry
and needs a team member. Could be we can put you in touch with him? Let us know if you're open to sharing expence
and we shall. Click the Hospice Logo above to go to Rules and Entry info
that you can download.

We have a fishing report from Neal Laue on Plastered. Neal says trolling produced a few small
kings and dolphin but was generally slow. That goes along with the morning's low tide last six days. Neal reported
fair action deep dropping. He picked up several golden tile fish. They are the best! Saturday Neal says they
pulled up 57 "blackbellies" for potatoe chip fillets.

A note
about proper VHF Radio etiquette. Nothing can be more frustrating than raising a friend on the Radio for a fishing
report and have another radio user "walk on your transmission" attempting to make calls over yours. Nothing
can be more hazardous to your vessel, your crew or yourself than a person who ignorantly calls for "radio checks"
or "can you read me nows" on Channel 16 when you are in an emergency situation. Channel 16 is designated
the International Emergency Hailing Channel and should never be used for anything other than an Emergency. If you
need the Coast Guard, call them on #16 but they will immediately move you to Channel 22, their "working Channel".
.
As a recreational boater you have Channel 9 as your hailing/calling channel and Channels
#68,69,71, 72 and 78A to talk on. Before calling listen a moment and make sure the airway is clear to avoid interupting
another's call. Do not key/click your mic while others are talking. When they stop, it is your turn.
Sadly, many people think of the VHF Radio as similar to the old trucker's CB radios. This is not true. Next time
you leave Port, listen in on #13, the bridge tenders working to raise & lower. Listen in on #14, that's the pilot
boat guiding the freighters into the Port. The etiquette of VHF Radio use allows us all to have "a space" to
work, play and enjoy safely.

Dolphin have been around all year. Fishermen getting out have been knocking off little ones where
they find them. Concentrate your efforts in 150'-500' of water. Weather for the weekend looks good.
Some breeze so check our beach cams (left) before you go.

Just got a nice e-note from Capt. Mike Genoun of Florida Sport Fishing Magazine.
He and Leah are busily setting up for the Miami Boat Show this week but Capt. Mike took time out to let us know that
He & Leah are sending down 100 Magazines for the Team Boat Bags (plus stickers) for the upcoming 16th Annual Hospice
Round Up. Their magazine is a treasure trove of tips and how-to's that are applicable to
our area. If you're heading to the Show make sure you stop by and thank them for us. They'll be displaying outside
and inside on the First Floor, Booth #3311.

Snook season is open on the Atlantic
Coast. Keeper Snook must measure "in the slot" meaning 28-32" with tail pinched closed. Shrimp
are running medium and large due to cooler weather. Tarpon are heavy around Haulover Inlet and the small bridges at Star
Island. Port of Maimi has also been producing tarpon on the out going tide.

The crew of 'Just-Crusin' owned by Duane P. of Duane's Toyota in Davie thought they had a new species
when they caught a large Houndfish with vertical stripes while fishing the full moon off the Keys. See picture top and
lower right of page. Thery caught it on one of Barbara's Sea Spook rigged squid. Our expert Capt. Don suggests
the bold stripes might be "light up effect" similiar to the billfish "light up" when they are
excited or turn-on while feeding..

Resorts in and about Asia have taken shark fin soup off the Hotel menu's in support of stopping the practice of finning
sharks; cutting off the fins and tossing the doomed creature back into the sea.

Right
out of National Geographic Magazine. According to scientific study the human brain needed the Omega 3 oils found abundantly
in fish to evolve from it's early stages into a miracle of complexity. They reason that early homminids (including the apes)
that learned to catch fish by hand, with a stick or by trapping them in shallows and then consuming lots of Omega
3's had a distinct advantage in the area of brain developement over those that did not consume fish. That explains why
us fisherman are smarter.

Who knew? A blue whale's heart can be as much
as 10' tall and weigh 2000 lbs.

Scott Bouwens asked Barbara for advice on a new reel for Flamingo. One that guests could
use and wouldn't break the bank. She recommended the little Shimano she uses herself. Scott arrived at Flamingo
and was instructing his 'guest' on how to use the new reel. When Scott pulled back the bail and threw the very
first cast.... well, see for yourself - middle picture and we're playing his song.
