Competition Tackle and Marine, Inc. was Born in August 1984 through the efforts of  Florida Triple Crown of Fishing Champions Barbara & Don Ferguson.
Married in 1966 both Barbara and Don grew up in fishing families.  Born as Barbara Sue Fille in Amelia, Ohio Barbara fished the early years of life on the Ohio River with Her Dad Eugene Fille and brothers.  Asked what She learned from that experience she replies, "don't fall in the River - that water's cold & fast!"  On vacations Her Dad brought the Fille Family to Florida and Chartered the old Sea Boots out of Pier #5 in Miami.  It was on Sea Boots Barbara landedher first Wahoo, a fat 42 lb fish.  The Mate told Barbara they weren't much good to eat so She and Dad left the wahoo for the Boat to "dispose" of.  Today, she laughs about how dumb She was back then.

Don Ferguson began His fishing life with His Dad "Mac" Ferguson, a successful restaurant owner in Lynchburg Virgina - far from the Ocean.  Like Barbara Don tells of fishing with His father on the James River when He was barely 5 years old.  The target was delicious Blue Catfish. Most of the time Don caught eels.  Don's first saltwater experiences were fishing for "Croaker" with his Dad on trips Chesapeake Bay.  Being a restaurant man Dad deep fried those fish at a roadside grill on the way home. Don was hooked forever.  Later Mac Ferguson sold his businesses and moved to Panama City Florida where He fulfilled His lifetime dream of getting his Captions License, purchasing a 42' Chris-Craft, The Patricia Ann, named after Don's older Sister,  Mac went into the Charter business.
